1960s
A chemical trading business founded in Surabaya
1970s
Trading expanded; AKR became widely-known and well-established
1980s
AKR built its own chemical storage tank facilites and warehouses in Indonesia's main sea ports. Headquarters moved to Jakarta. The first sorbitol was built with a capacity of 5,000 MT per annum.
1990s
AKR became a listed company. A second sorbitol plant was completed as a joint venture in East Java. A sorbitol plant in China was constructed. An upstream starch factory was completed. Bulk terminal operations expanded.

2004
Acquired a 58.24% controlling stake in Sorini, East Java, and 100% control of Khalista Chemical Industries, China.
2005
Entered the downstream petroleum business in oil distribution.
2006
AKR acquired five bulk commodity ports in southern China.
2007
  • Signed JV with Global liquid bulk logistics leader Royal Vopak for 450,000 kilolitres fuel storage terminal in Jakarta
  • Commissioned New starch plant in Lampung to increase in-house starch production
  • Increased shareholding in Sorini Agro Asia Corporindo Tbk from 58.24% to 69.91%.
  • Acquired AKRA 10 - SPOB - Vessel for Fuel Transportation in Kalimantan Region

2008
  • Commissioned 50,000 KL Terminal in Stagen Kalimantan
  • PT. Agro Asia Manunggal AAM was formed and construction began for new Starch plant in Lampung
  • SAAC sourced more than 1/3rd of Starch requirements in-house
  • AKR acquired first fuel vessel - SPOB – AKRA 10 for Fuel Distribution
2009
  • Commissioned 10,000 KL Terminal in Benoa Bali, Bali
  • Commissioned AKRA 20 - SPOB - 2,000 DWT Vessel for Fuel Distribution in Kalimantan Region
